‘Love Shore’, an institute for mentally challenged, was established in 2001 on a tranquil meadow with easy acccessibility from all parts of the neighbouring village at Pannicode in Kozhikode district. Love Shore, first of its kind in the area had only a handful of inmates in the beginning. Now the number has shot up to 250 with the opening of its new branch at ‘Othayi’ in Malappuram district. This marginalised class is often ignored by the society in which they live. They have no organizations to shout slogans and win their legitimate demands. Destiny overpowers these hapless. We can’t eschew our moral responsibilities towards the weaker sections of our society.
